History

In 1974 a small group of ladies with a vision of establishing a Sweet Adelines Chorus for the greater Manchester area began meeting at the Presbyterian Church in Bedford, New Hampshire. By 1976 Profile had grown to twenty-some members and received its charter from Sweet Adelines International. From these humble beginnings came the well-known signature sound that was cultivated by several different directors, namely, Peter Marino, Dick Chakos, Dave Purcell, Ann Hoag, and Susan O'Leary, along with Barbara Farrell, Norma Murray, and Dan Washington, who served as interim directors. Terry Neill stepped off the risers to direct the chorus in the year 2000 and has been "in charge" ever since!

In her 18+ years as Profile's director, Terry has continued the tradition of musical excellence initiated by those who came before her. It is hard work, but as many of the seasoned members will attest, it is a labor of love. Contributing our talents to an endeavor much larger than ourselves is a noble goal and something worth pursuing week after week. When Life throws curveballs our way and we attempt to overcome these inevitable setbacks as well as enjoy personal triumphs, our regular rehearsals become a sanctuary of sorts, a welcome retreat to look forward to on Thursday nights where we can forget about everything else for just a little while.
