Choose Your Options for Hygienic Guideline

The hygiene guideline for events was last completely revised in 2018. Any changes since the last revision have been indicated in the accountability. Introduction

This introduction states for whom the event guideline was written and what the purpose of the hygiene requirements is. It is also explained why hygiene is important. You will also find a reading guide to help you find specific information.

Who is this hygiene directive for?

This guideline is a tool for shaping hygiene at an event. In the first place, this hygiene directive is written for event organizers, because they are directly responsible for the healthiest possible environment for both the visitor and the employee. In certain situations, the owner of the building or location also has responsibilities; the organization of the event must check whether the owner also takes this responsibility.

The organization requests the permit for an event from the municipality. The municipality can ask the Municipal Health Service for hygiene advice before the permit is granted. If necessary, the will visit the location before or during the event.

If you have received a permit from the municipality for an event involving animals, you must report the event to the Corporation. Information about this and the form that you must complete can be found on the corporation website.

The term event is widely used in this guideline, for both large and small events. The starting point is that the facilities that are set up during an event are temporary and are therefore broken down again after a certain period. The guideline deals with all possible aspects of an event.

There are events where visitors or participants stay for a short time and events where you can also spend the night. In addition, an event can be organized both indoors and outdoors. It is, therefore, possible that certain requirements, such as the rules regarding animal enclosures or dance events, do not apply to your event. So read the guideline carefully so that you know what requirements do and do not apply to your specific event.

Are you unsure whether certain hygiene measures also apply to your event? With the help of the form in section 6.6, you can check whether there is an (increased) risk of infection. The municipality will also use this form to obtain hygiene advice from the GGD (often via the GHOR Medical Assistance Organization in the Region – Medical Assistance Organization in the Region). Do you have any questions about this advice or about the hygiene measures to be taken? Then you can go to the GGD in the place or region where the event is organized.

What is the purpose of this directive?

This guideline provides an overview of the minimum hygiene requirements that events must meet. In this document, you will find guidelines about the construction and design of your event as well as guidelines that are directly related to the implementation of hygiene measures, such as cleaning activities.

Whether there is a greater than average risk of infection at your event depends on:

• The expected number of visitors or participants
• The characteristics of these visitors or participants risk group
• The nature of the temporary provisions.

It is the task of the organization to minimize this risk of infection. A good hygiene policy is needed for this.
